Godsmack getting back onto the road

Godsmack will hit the road again later this spring, with a batch of new dates already made public. According to Blabbermouth, the band will kick off its next trek with a May 5th appearance at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, Tennessee, with 10 additional dates confirmed so far. Godsmack will play a mix of theatres and outdoor venues on this next round and singer Sully Erna said the band is comfortable with headlining those places: "At this point, we're not the biggest band in the world, but we hold our own. We have a big, fat rock show. We just don't feel like we need to be under anyone's wing anymore, and this thing is gonna take its course. Whether this is the biggest we ever become and it fades away eventually, or whether we go to another level and do full-sized arenas, you know, and just stay at that level for the rest of our career, it doesn't matter."

Godsmack will be continuing to tour behind its latest album, IV.

Erna published his first memoir, called The Paths We Choose, last month. The book chronicles his escapades growing up as a working class kid in New England and trying to make it as a rock musician.

Newly announced tour dates:
May 5 - Memphis, TN - Tom Lee Park (Beale Street Music Festival)
May 6 - Mobile, AL - Saenger Theater
May 8 - Jacksonville, FL - Moran Theater
May 9 - North Charleston, SC - North Charleston PAC
May 11 - Tampa, FL - Tampa Bay PAC
May 12 - Pompano Beach, FL - Pompano Beach Amphitheatre
May 13 - Orlando, FL - Hard Rock Live
May 15 - Atlanta, GA - Fox Theater
