Initial Ozzfest bands announced
The initial batch of bands performing on this summer's Ozzfest has been announced. Lamb Of God and Finnish metal act Lordi will join headliner Ozzy Osbourne on the main stage, while Hatebreed will top the second stage lineup, which also includes Mondo Generator, Ankla, Circus Diablo, Nile and the Showdown. The 24-city tour begins on July 12th in Seattle and, as previously announced by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, admission will be free.More acts are expected to be announced in the weeks ahead, although there is industry speculation about whether the Osbournes can convince bigger artists to appear on all or part of the tour, or even on selected dates, for no pay.
Sharon Osbourne said at a press conference announcing the tour that she felt sure fans wouldn't be disappointed with this year's show: "I think that Ozzy's audience know that historically Ozzy always has amazing music touring with him. And so I think the kids are fully confident that they're gonna get a great show."
As for whether the tour can attract stars to perform this year, Osbourne recently told Billboard, "The star power we have is Ozzy Osbourne...Are we going to get Metallica? No, of course not, kids know that. (But) the bands there performing want to be there, not because they're taking home a f***ing nest egg at the end of it."
Fans are being told that they should sign up at ozzfest.com or livenation.com for information on how to obtain tickets.
