Kid Rock not being charged with assault
Prosecutors said on Friday (March 16th) that Kid Rock will not be charged with assault after they were unable to confirm claims against him, according to TMZ.com. Rock was accused of assaulting a 28-year-old woman outside his Clarkston, Michigan home after she allegedly refused to spend the night there. The Oakland County prosecutor's office said in a statement that it declined to press charges against Rock due to "conflicting witness accounts" and an inability to corroborate the charges through "photographs or medical reports." County Prosecutor David Gorcyca concluded that there was "insufficient evidence to support a charge."
The woman claimed that Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, invited her and another man to his house to listen to music after meeting them in a bar on the night of March 8th. Rock allegedly became angry when the woman refused to stay, grabbing her by the neck and making her fall.
The man who accompanied the woman to Rock's home corroborated her story, according to local police, but another man who was on the scene sided with Rock's version of events.
Rock's lawyer said that his client "intends to fully pursue his civil remedies against this person as soon as we determine who she is."
