Korn makes first "Leno" appearance

Korn will make its first-ever appearance on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this evening (Thursday, March 1st), performing an acoustic version of the song "Throw Me Away." Guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer told us that the group has never been very excited about talk show appearances in the past: "You know, we did 'Kimmel' (Jimmy Kimmel Live), but it was different because, you know, we had an audience and it was outside so we did the electric thing. It was more of a concert. But for in-studio, it doesn't come across. You don't really...for Korn, we're a live band, and being a live band, the audience is a big part of playing live. And, you know, I think that's why we stayed away from doing talk shows for so long."

Clint Lowery of Sevendust and Dark New Day will make his live debut with Korn tonight as its new touring guitarist.

Korn's recently taped Unplugged performance will premiere on MTV tomorrow (Friday, March 2nd), with a CD arriving on March 6th. Guests include members of the Cure as well as Evanescence singer Amy Lee. The show is now streaming online at MTV's web site.

Korn is currently recording its eighth studio album and plans to release it this summer. The band will also headline the Family Values tour again this year.
