Leonardo DiCaprio meets with top Israeli official

Leonardo DiCaprio met with former Israeli prime minister Shimon Peres while visiting Israel with his girlfriend last week. People reports that Peres requested a meeting with the environmentalist actor as soon as he heard DiCaprio was in town with Israeli model Bar Refaeli. The two discussed Peres' economic development plan for Israel, Jordan, and Palestine and 11th Hour, DiCaprio's documentary on the environment. Peres also asked the actor to lend a hand in stalled Middle East peace talks and word is the actor agreed to lend his celebrity to the cause.

DiCaprio and girlfriend Refaeli caused a media frenzy while in Israel. Police are still considering whether to charge two of their bodyguards for slugging photographers trying to catch snapshots of the glamorous duo outside of Jerusalem's Western Wall.
