Limp Bizkit singer's film debut premiering at film festival
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst's debut as a feature film director, titled The Education of Charlie Banks, will have its world premiere screening at the Tribeca Film Festival, scheduled to run between April 25th and May 6th in New York City. The movie was one of 63 entries announced as part of the event's "Discovery" and "Showcase" programs. The festival press release describes the film as a "potent coming-of-age drama about confronting one's fears." Jesse Eisenberg stars as the title character, who "must reconcile with his past when he gets an unexpected visit from a hometown thug -- who may or may not know that Charlie once ratted him out to the police." The exact date that the film will be shown has yet to be determined.
Another of the film's stars, Chris Marquette, told MTV.com that Durst was "really personable and insanely calm" on the set, adding that his confidence behind the camera was "incredible."
Durst has directed several of Limp Bizkit's videos and has been attached to several other film projects in the past, but this is the first to actually go into production.
Limp Bizkit has been inactive for the better part of two years, with no albums or tours on the horizon, although Durst recently wrote at his blog that he'd like to see the band reunite.
