Ousted American Idol Brandon Rogers doesn't harbor hard feelings
For the first time in several weeks, Los Angeles native Brandon Rogers doesn't have anything to do today (March 19th). That's because unlike last week and the weeks before, the backup singer isn't competing on American Idol. Rogers was voted off the show last week after forgetting the lyrics to "You Can't Hurry Love," and now resumes his life outside the spotlight.
Rogers knew the elimination was coming when he flubbed his words, and said it just wasn't his time to shine on the tough program: "It's a rough show. Like, there's nothing easy about getting in front of people and singing a song and then putting your mic down and then stepping up to a mark and being judged. There's no shortcut to success. Either you are or you aren't. It's just going to happen for you in its time. And if your time is to be on American Idol and become famous then that's for you."
Rogers also said that despite being eliminated, he's grateful to his fans for getting him this far into the process: "I think America always gets it right. You know, they vote for who they're going to vote for and who they want to vote for. I still got millions of votes, you know? (Laughs) I may have gotten the least amount of votes but I still had millions of people vote for me and support me and that's great. I'm telling you, I feel lucky to be in the Top 12. I genuinely feel thankful for that."
The remaining 11 finalists perform again on Idol tomorrow (March 20th) at 8 on Fox.
