Red Jumpsuit Apparatus faces up to tough topic in "Face Down"
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus continues to have a major hit with "Face Down," the first single from its debut album, Don't You Fake It. The song deals with the subject of domestic violence, which singer Ronnie Winter told us is a very personal topic for him: "'Face Down' particularly is about domestic violence because it's something I went through when I was a kid, and some other people that I know have, and one day we were sitting around and we all just kind of figured out how many people actually have gone through it, and the song just wrote itself. We didn't ever intend on it bringing any attention to our band whatsoever. We just knew that if we could release one song and that we could always be remembered by one song, then that's the one we wanted to be remembered by."
Ronnie Winter said he witnessed domestic abuse as a child. His parents eventually split up and he was raised mostly by his grandmother.
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is currently headlining the 2007 Take Action! Tour, which focuses on suicide prevention as well as fundraising for the Youth America Hotline and 1-800-SUICIDE.
The non-profit hotline has taken calls from more than two million people seeking help and counseling.
The Take Action! Tour, which also features Emery, A Static Lullaby and others, pulled into Cincinnati, Ohio on Friday, March 16th.
