Rolling Stones announce European tour

The Rolling Stones are living up to their word and making things right in Europe. After canceling a bunch of shows last year due to health issues suffered by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger, the Stones promised to return as soon as possible, and they announced their 2007 European dates on Thursday, March 22nd. The group has booked 27 shows, beginning June 5th in Werchter, Belgium, and wrapping up with a hometown show in London on August 21st.

Lead singer Mick Jagger was on hand at the official rollingstones.com website as part of the announcement, and he said he's really looking forward to getting out on the road this summer: "We've got a , a lot of places we haven't been before, which is always very exciting; some old favorites; and the gigs that we didn't do on the last European tour. So yes, a very good mixture, and a very exciting summer."

Jagger also took questions from fans and journalists, and one person asked what the band could do to keep Richards from climbing any trees on tour this year, since the guitarist's fall last year led to major cranial surgery and a rescheduling of the European dates. Jagger said: "We'll nail him to the nearest, to the nearest (laughs), nearest room. No, I don't think he'll be -- I think he'll be fine. I don't think he'll be climbing any pine trees in Sweden."

It's unknown whether any more dates will be added, but a look at the schedule shows there are certainly places where more shows could be scheduled.
