Rush singer calls new album "some of the best work we 've done for years"
Rush singer-bassist Geddy Lee is raving about the band's new album Snakes & Arrows, which comes out May 1st. Lee told Revolver magazine, "It's big, it's bold, and I think it's some of the best work we've done in years. I'm really pleased with the quality of the songs, and there's lots of playing on it."He also said making the covers EP Feedback in 2004 influenced the production on Snakes & Arrows. He told the magazine, "I think it helped us remember how sometimes it's the simplicity or the directness of an arrangement that really makes a great song... we played all together in the studio for a lot of the Feedback stuff. That's something that a lot of producers had been pushing us to do for a while, but which we hadn't done in years. It was great to... just play -- you know, not worry so much about being so, quote, metronomic (unquote) -- and that definitely carried over into this record."
Guitarist Alex Lifeson told us that Rush worked hard to create the right environment when they recorded Feedback: "We brought in a whole bunch of lava lamps, and lights, carpets, a couch, all the lights were turned down, candles everywhere, and we recorded together in the room. And, and we haven't done that in a very long time. We really wanted to capture the spirit of the way these songs were recorded originally."
No dates have been announced yet for the tour Rush is planning to support Snakes & Arrows.
