The Shins begin planning next leg of North American tour

The Shins have begun mapping out the next leg of their North American tour, which will start in Phoenix, Arizona on April 11th. Six dates have been announced, with more presumably on the way. The group's current run ends in Toronto on March 17th, after which the band will head to England and Europe for two weeks before returning home. The overseas dates will be promoted by the release of a new single, "Australia," in U.K. stores that will feature a remix and two live cuts as B-sides. The single comes out on April 9th but is not scheduled for U.S. release.

The Shins are supporting their newly released album, Wincing The Night Away, which sold 118,000 copies in its first week in stores and debuted at Number Two on the Billboard album chart last month.

The first single from Wincing... is called "Phantom Limb."

The band plays in Austin, Texas tonight (Wednesday, March 7th).
