Stephen Stills plotting tour and archival release
Stephen Stills is getting ready to go out and play some shows. Backstage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Monday (March 12th), Stills made the announcement: "I'm starting a solo tour, just after the memorial (for the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun) on the 17th of April. Just myself, my little quartet, little blues band, you know, and just hack around for the summer."
So far, there are four dates booked -- April 19th in Reading, Pennsylvania; April 20th in Collingswood, New Jersey; May 1st in Tampa, Florida; and May 4th in Jacksonville, Florida.
Stills also said that he's got an archival release on the way, which will feature his demos for the music from the first Crosby, Stills & Nash album in 1969 and from his self-titled solo debut in 1970.
While there, Stills revealed that David Crosby is doing well and is recovering from recent surgery on his shoulder. The surgery and a bout with pneumonia forced CSN to postpone a tour of Australia and New Zealand until the end of the year, and a Crosby-Nash duo tour was also shelved.
Stills was at the Rock Hall ceremony to pay tribute to Ertegun, whom he called "a true, complete original." He added, "We shall never see his like again in our lifetimes. God bless you, Ahmet."
