White Stripes comment on false tour rumours
The White Stripes have posted a comment at their official web site regarding the false tour rumors that got onto the Internet on Monday (March 19th). A string of U.S. tour dates that suspiciously looked just like the routing for the duo's 2005 summer trek were posted by dozens of publications, including Billboard, before it was found that they were fake. The post at the Stripes' web site read in part, "The White Stripes have yet to confirm their North American routing as of yet. But we are happy to say that it will include all ten provinces and three territories of Canada, as well as the remaining 16 states of the United States the band have yet to play."
The band will be touring in support of its sixth studio effort, Icky Thump, which is due out in June. An appearance at that month's Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee is already confirmed.
The album was laid down over a three-week period in Nashville, where singer/guitarist Jack White now lives.
Icky Thump will follow the band's 2005 release, Get Behind Me Satan. It will be their first project through Warner Bros. Records, where they signed a new deal after their previous label, V2, shut down last year.
