Brad Delp's friends announce memorial shows

Some friends of the late Boston singer Brad Delp have scheduled three shows in his memory for next week. The gigs will take place at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, Massachusetts, under the heading In My Life -- A Concert For Brad. Delp's partners in the Beatles cover group Beatlejuice, whom he sang with whenever he had the chance, will be the house band, and they'll be joined by several friends from the area, along with Boston bassist Kimberley Dahme. The In My Life concerts are set for May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Beatlejuice drummer John "Muzz" Muzzy said, "Much to our surprise and gratitude, some of Brad's favorite vocalists from the area, who had their own special relationships with him, have, quite humbly, offered their own talents to help us put on a Beatlejuice concert for all of us connected with Brad in this special way... The four of us are so moved that they have allowed us to play together the music that Brad loved so much... (W)e thought this would be a fitting forum for us to do what we can and to get together and see you all -- to sing, cry, hopefully laugh a little, and remember all that Brad has meant to each and every one of us.

Regent Theatre Booking Manager Leland Stein said, "We've been so fortunate to have had Beatlejuice perform many times on the Regent stage... Each show was a special occasion, and Brad always took time to offer a moment of peace, prayer, and recognition to John Lennon and George Harrison. Now, it's our chance to do the same for Brad."

There's no word yet as to whether any of Delp's other Boston bandmates will be at the shows.

Delp took his own life on March 9th. He was 55 years old.
