Foo Fighters deep into recording
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl gave England's XFM Radio an update on the progress of the band's sixth studio album, which it began recording earlier this spring. Grohl said, "We've been in the studio for the past month and a half, and we've got about another month to go. We've been recording with our friend Gil Norton. He worked on our second record (The Colour and the Shape), he's a good guy and he makes amazing albums. So we're making a really big powerful record, which I'm very excited about...I can't wait to jump on stage and do this stuff, it's gonna be great."Grohl added that the record "sounds like a Foo Fighters album, but it's definitely moving in a few different directions."
The band's last album, a double-disc set called In Your Honor, arrived in 2005. A release date has not yet been finalized for the new effort.
Foo Fighters will perform with the Police on June 23rd at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and also play in London on July 7th as part of the worldwide Live Earth concerts.
The band recently re-signed with RCA Records for a new long-term recording deal. Foo Fighters have sold more than 20 million records since releasing their self-titled debut in 1995 and have won four Grammy Awards.
