Gary Glitter seeks amnesty from Vietnam prison
Seventies glam rock sensation Gary Glitter, who is serving a nearly three year sentence in a Vietnam prison for sexually molesting two pre-teen girls, is hoping to obtain amnesty during the country's Liberation Day celebration later this month. He was convicted last year after a one-day trial.
The 62-year-old Glitter, born Paul Francis Gadd, had already been granted three months off his sentence after an earlier bid for amnesty. His lawyer, Le Thanh Kinh, told Reuters, "My client will certainly seek an amnesty this time, but it is still up to the president to decide if he would be released... My client is quite healthy in prison. He has been given a job of cutting trees there."
Glitter is best known for the hits "Rock and Roll" and "Do You Wanna Touch Me.
