Guns N' Roses postpone world tour
Guns N' Roses has postponed the start of the band's world tour, slated to begin on Saturday (April 14th) in Japan, due to an injury sustained by bassist Tommy Stinson. In a press release, Stinson said, "I feel so bad right now. I accidentally fell down a flight of stairs. I put my hand down to break my fall and heard a loud 'pop.' The next morning my hand looked like a balloon. I went to see my doctor and while the good news is that it's not broken, the bad news is it's severely sprained and I may have done some ligament damage. We had our last rehearsal a few days ago and shipped the gear to Japan and then this happened. I feel horrible."Stinson apologized to the group's Japanese fans, adding, "We'd like to sincerely thank our fans worldwide for their patience and support."
The Japanese shows will be rescheduled. Guns N' Roses is still on target to headline two South African festival shows at the end of this month.
The long-delayed new Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy, missed a March 6th release date announced by singer and sole original member W. Axl Rose. There is currently no official release date for the disc. One or two songs have leaked online in the past few months.
Chinese Democracy has been in the works for more than a decade, with the project reportedly costing over $13 million.
