Metallica joining Live Earth concerts?
Metallica will perform at this summer's Live Earth concerts, according to a report on Fox News. The July 7th series of shows are being spearheaded by former Vice President Al Gore to raise awareness of the world's global warming crisis. Metallica will reportedly appear at the London concert in Wembley Stadium, along with headliners the Rolling Stones, Madonna, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and others. Representatives for Metallica did not respond to inquiries.
Other artists slated to appear at the Live Earth events include Korn, A.F.I., Roger Waters, Fall Out Boy, Snoop Dogg, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, Snow Patrol and Keane, with more to be announced.
There are expected to be seven Live Earth shows, one on each continent.
Republican Senators have blocked efforts to stage the U.S. show in Washington D.C. on the West Front Lawn of the Capitol, with Shea Stadium in Queens, New York now in the running to host the show.
