1976 David Bowie is detained for several hours by customs officials at the border between Poland and the then-U.S.S.R for carrying Nazi memorabilia.

1981 Moving Pictures by Rush is certified platinum.

1981 Ringo Starr marries actress Barbara Bach.

1985 "Rock And Roll Girls" by John Fogerty peaks at Number 20 on the pop chart.

1987 Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi is certified seven times platinum.

1988 Once Bitten by Great White is certified platinum.

1988 Open Up And Say ... Ahh by Poison is released.

1990 Guns N' Roses leader W. Axl Rose marries Erin Everly, who is the daughter of the Everly Brothers' Phil Everly. Rose files for divorce less than two months later, but the couple reconciles. In January 1991, however, the marriage is annulled.

1999 Greatest Hits by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers is certified eight times platinum.

1999 The Grateful Dead's Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, and Bob Weir join Sammy Hagar and others at the Luther Burbank Center For The Arts in Santa Rosa, California, in an Open Nature benefit for Bohemia Waterfall Park.

2001 Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh and Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Rickey Medlocke appear on the Don Johnson TV show Nash Bridges -- Lesh as himself, and Medlocke as a record producer.

2002 Former Kiss lead guitarist Ace Frehley hosts his "Birthday Bash 2002" to celebrate his 51st birthday, with 500 fans who pay $125 to be with their hero. Drummer Eric Singer is in attendance, and singer-bassist Gene Simmons makes a brief appearance to present Ace with a birthday cake.

2003 Paul McCartney is named the richest entertainer in Britain, with an estimated wealth of $1.3 billion, on a list that is published by the U.K. newspaper The Sunday Times. He denies the amount is accurate.

2004 Black Box by Black Sabbath is released.

2004 Spin The Bottle - A Tribute To Kiss is released. It has Kiss covers featuring Twisted Sister's Dee Snider, Tommy Shaw of Styx, Lemmy Kilmeister from Motorhead, Whitesnake's Doug Aldrich and Marco Mendoza, Toto's Steve Lukather and Mike Porcaro, Heart's Mike Inez, Poison's C.C. DeVille, Helmet's Page Hamilton, and former Kiss lead guitarist Bruce Kulick.

2005 U2 shoots the video for "City Of Blinding Lights" at the GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia.
