1964 The self-titled debut album by the Rolling Stones is released in the U.K., a collection of R & B and rock-and-roll covers, except for the lone original song, "Tell Me," which was written by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards.

1966 "Satisfaction" by Otis Redding, a cover of the Rolling Stones song, peaks at Number 31 on the pop chart.

1971 Paul and Linda McCartney appear on the cover of Life magazine with the headline: "The Ex-Beatle Tells His Story."

1971 The Rolling Stones hold an informal celebration in Cannes, France, to mark the formation of their new label, Rolling Stones Records.

1971 "Oye Como Va" by Santana, a cover of the Tito Puente song, peaks at Number 13 on the chart.

1977 "The Things We Do For Love" by 10CC peaks at Number Five on the pop chart, where it stays for two weeks.

1977 "The First Cut Is The Deepest" by Rod Stewart, a cover of the Cat Stevens song, peaks at Number 21 on the pop chart.

1983 "Mr. Roboto" by Styx peaks at Number Three on the pop chart, where it stays for two weeks.

1983 The Grateful Dead welcomes special guest Stephen Stills at the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Stills backs the band on "Iko Iko," "One More Saturday Night," and "Johnny B. Goode," and then they back Stills on "Black Queen."

1988 "Devil Inside" by INXS peaks at Number Two on the pop chart, where it stays for two weeks.

1990 Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Simple Minds, Tracy Chapman, Bonnie Raitt, the Neville Brothers and others perform at the Nelson Mandela -- An International Tribute To A Free South Africa concert at Wembley Stadium in England.

1994 "My Sharona" by the Knack reenters the pop chart and peaks at Number 91.

1994 Longing In Their Hearts by Bonnie Raitt hits Number One on the album chart.

1996 Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger album is certified double platinum.

1996 Kiss officially announces their reunion tour with all four original members, makeup, costumes, and staging at a press conference on the U.S.S. Intrepid in New York City.

1999 Guitarist-drummer Alexander "Skip" Spence (the Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, Quicksilver Messenger Service) dies at age 52.

2002 "Hey Mr. DJ" by Van Morrison is released.

2002 Willie Nelson and his friends Keith Richards, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Sheryl Crow, the Dixie Chicks, Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20, Ryan Adams, Brian McKnight, Ray Price, Emmylou Harris, Toby Keith, Lee Ann Womack, Aaron Neville, Hank Williams III, and Vince Gill, among others, team up to perform some of Nelson's biggest hits at a special show, which is taped for television in Nashville.

2003 Black Label Society/Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde makes a cameo appearance as a guitarist in a club on the TV show Angel.

2003 Evanescence and their record label pull all copies of the band's major label debut, Fallen, out of Christian music stores after the band distances themselves from the Christian music scene in an Entertainment Weekly interview.

2004 Jon Bon Jovi performs at the University Of Pittsburgh for Senator John Kerry as part of the democratic presidential candidate's Change Starts With U: Kerry Campus Tour 2004.

2004 The members of the Dead -- Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann -- join Gov't Mule onstage at The Warfield in San Francisco for a "Gov't Dead" set that features "Lay Of The Sunflower," "Cryptical Envelopment," "The Other One," "Wang Dang Doodle," "Sugaree," "Viola Lee Blues," and "Turn On Your Lovelight."

2007 Bon Jovi performs "(You Want To) Make A Memory" at the CMT Awards in Nashville.
