The Police may record new album after tour

Police guitarist Andy Summers thinks the band's upcoming reunion tour could lead to a new album. During a question-and-answer session in London promoting his memoir, One Train Later, he said that "if we do well with these concerts we may well make a sixth album, I can't see why not." In fact, Summers added that the group will "be playing a couple of new songs at the shows in the summer," but did not reveal any more information about them.

Summers also said that he, Sting and Stewart Copeland were pleased and surprised with how well tickets have been selling for the tour: "I was shocked, I had to admit. I thought we'd do alright on ticket sales, but I never expected such a high demand... It's pretty daunting, I have to admit.

The last Police studio album was the Grammy-winning Synchronicity in 1983.

The Police's first tour in 22 years kicks off May 28th and 30th in Vancouver. The trio will be in North America into early August before moving to Europe later that month.
