Queen members Will Rock You in London
Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor have something special planned to mark the fifth anniversary of their stage musical We Will Rock You. The show launched at the Dominion Theatre in the West End of London on May 14th, 2002, and a birthday party is being put together at the theatre for this May 14th, with Taylor and May expected to make special appearances during the show. There will also likely be some unannounced "special guests" on the night, which shouldn't come as a surprise, since the We Will Rock You stage has been visited by people including Beyonce Knowles, Britney Spears, and Pink, among others. We Will Rock You, which was scorned by the critics when it opened, is the longest-running musical in the Dominion's history, and it's just been announced that it will continue to play at the theatre at least through October 2008.
We Will Rock You ran in Las Vegas a few years ago, but it closed earlier than expected. It's the only time the show hasn't had wild success in any of its incarnations, and Taylor told us it was surprising: [

(It didn't) really quite work as we hoped there. Maybe it's the wrong place, I don't know." We Will Rock You has also been staged in South Africa, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain, and it recently opened in Toronto. A tour of Asia is in the works for later this year.
