Queens of the Stone Age have created an animated video for the track "Sick, Sick, Sick" and posted it at the band's official web site, qotsa.com. The group posted the song itself online last week for a limited period. It can be found on the upcoming Era Vulgaris, which is due out June 12th. (The PRP)
Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler is recovering from sinus and bronchial problems that plagued him for two months, forcing the band to curtail its European tour. Butler underwent surgery to correct the problem and wrote at the band's web site, "The surgery was successful and I am recovering nicely. I will probably start singing again this week some time to try and get ready for the shows in North America." The band's North American tour begins on Thursday (April 26th) in San Diego. Pop-punk act Cartel is sealing itself inside a giant plastic bubble on a pier alongside the Hudson River in New York City to write and record its new album in full view of the public. The band will eat, sleep and work in the transparent studio beginning on May 24th and ending on June 12th, when they'll escape to play a concert on the pier showcasing their new songs. Web cams in the bubble will stream live at drpepperbubble.com and the entire experience will be chronicled in a four-part reality series on MTV.
If the Smiths are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, don't expect Morrissey to show up. The band's former singer has already said he wouldn't attend the ceremony because of a longstanding feud with drummer Mike Joyce. A source said, "Morrissey has never forgiven Joyce and if organizers think he's going to bury the hatchet by joining him to accept this award, they've got another thing coming. The only way he could be persuaded to turn up would be if Joyce decides not to attend." The influential British alt-rock act is said to be on the short list for next year's class of inductees.
