Rolling Stones vs Animal rights activists

Animal rights activists are calling on the Rolling Stones to relocate their show in Belgrade in July. The concert is expected to draw about 100,000 fans to the Hippodrome, but some 300 horses are stabled just a few yards from where the stage will be built at the racetrack. According to Reuters, a horse handler suggested having extra manpower at the show to tranquilize the animals if they get upset because of the crowd and the noise, but the head of Serbia's animal-protection organization says that's unacceptable. ORCA head Elvir Burazerovic said, "Research has shown that noise and vibrations are the strongest causes of stress to animals. Surely our big city has enough open spaces where even 150,000 people can fit in. We think the Hippodrome should be left to horses."

Burazerovic also said that if he can't get the show moved from the Hippodrome, he would try to reach out directly to the Stones.

So far, there's been no reaction from the band, whose European tour starts June 5th in Belgium.
