Shaw/Blades back on stage
It's been a rough couple of days for Tommy Shaw, but he and Jack Blades were be back on stage on April 11th at AC's Lounge in San Jacinto, California. The old friends are playing acoustic shows in support of their Shaw/Blades covers album called Influence, but they had to re-work the schedule after Tommy came down with a viral infection in his throat and was ordered to rest by his doctor. Barring any more setbacks, Shaw/Blades will finish their California run this week with shows on Thursday, April 12th in West Hollywood; Friday (April 13th) in San Juan Capistrano; and Saturday (April 14th) in Agoura Hills.
The shows feature Shaw/Blades material along with Styx, Night Ranger, and Damn Yankees music, and Jack and Tommy told us the hardest part of the tour has been deciding what NOT to sing on a given night: (Blades) "The problem is, Tommy and I wanna do 'em all." (Shaw) "I know, we want to --" (Blades) "That's the, that's the problem -- we can't figure out which ones!" (Shaw) "Well, what song are you gonna cut?" (Blades) "Aw, I like that one... I don't wanna cut that one, that's neat... I don't wanna cut... Aww...." (Shaw) "Especially some of the songs from our first Shaw/Blades album, because we never had a chance to tour behind that."
Two of the gigs that were affected last week have been rescheduled -- the April 1st show in Akron, Ohio, will now take place May 30th, and the Chicago date that was booked for April 5th will now happen May 31st. Tickets from the original shows will be honored at the new ones.
Shaw/Blades are working hard to make up the other affected dates, and more information should be available in the next few days.
