Billy Joel: Not interested in writing pop songs
It's been a long time since Billy Joel released an album of pop songs, and that's probably not going to change in the near future. Even though he put out a new song this year called "All My Life," there are no plans for anything besides the classical-style writing he's done since 1993, when his album River Of Dreams was released. Billy told us that he's not turning his back on his past, it's just that he's in a different head space right now: [

I haven't divorced myself from the material that I wrote before -- I mean, that's why I'm out here on the road playing this stuff -- and I still believe in it. But I don't feel compelled to write in song form anymore. That isn't to say I may not go back to it -- I have no idea."
Billy wraps up his spring tour tonight (Wednesday, May 9th) at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota -- and it's coincidentally his 58th birthday.
