Chevelle getting over theft of equipment

Chevelle officially kicked off its latest headlining tour on Thursday (May 24th) in Wantagh, New York, just two weeks after the band's trailer containing nearly all its concert gear was stolen in Dallas, Texas. Singer and guitarist Pete Loeffler told us exactly what happened and how: "We had a bus driver that really didn't care about his job or his client too much, and he dropped our trailer in a parking lot really late at night. We asked him not to, we were worried that someone was gonna come along and take it, and that's exactly what happened. So we lost our entire touring rig. It happened, but you know what, at the end of the day it's stuff, and we're gonna replace it, and we're moving on."

Chevelle was forced to cancel a week's worth of dates as a result of the crime, getting back on the road on May 17th.

Sources say that police, working in conjunction with the band, are closing in on a suspect in the theft. The group has asked fans to keep an eye out for Chevelle gear being sold through eBay and other online dealers.

Finger Eleven and Strata are supporting Chevelle on the current trek, which pulls into Knoxville, Tennessee on Tuesday night (May 29th).
