Cream to reunite again in 2007

Bassist Jack Bruce, of the legendary rock group Cream, told the Associated Press yesterday (May 24th) that he will reunite with guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker for an unspecified show or shows later this year. The change of heart is surprising as there has been bad blood between Baker and Bruce for nearly 40 years, with such notable incidents as the time Baker threw his drumsticks at Bruce mid-performance, only to have Bruce destroy his drumset in retaliation.

Though the trio did reunite briefly in 2005, at Clapton's insistence, their performances were fraught with ill will and Clapton himself seemed uneasy onstage with the friction around him. Bruce now says that any problems occurring at that time were likely a result of his then-recent liver transplant. "I hadn't recovered properly yet, so I found it quite difficult," Bruce said. "Now I'm completely recovered so I would enjoy it more."

The reunion will not take place as part of the seven-continent Live Earth shows on July 7th. "It's a bit later than that," he confirmed.
Reps for Clapton and Baker have not yet confirmed the reunion.
Bruce performed Cream's hit "Sunshine Of Your Love" and "White Room" with ex-Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick, Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke and Queen keyboardist Spike Edney yesterday at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, at which 50 rock fans pay up to $15,000 to learn and perform with their idols.
