Doors members host private reception
Keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger are in Cleveland and helped launch the new Doors exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum on Thursday (May 24th). Krieger and Manzarek hosted a private reception for Rock Hall members at the museum, in advance of Friday's (May 25th) public opening of Break On Through: The Lasting Legacy Of The Doors, which has been put together to mark the band's 40th anniversary. The exhibit contains original manuscripts, photos, concert posters, video, and other memorabilia from the band's career.
Manzarek told us that he and his bandmates are really happy about the exhibit: "Yeah, it's very cool to have it happening. Sure. Of course. I mean, we don't pooh-pooh the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- 'How lame-ass, man! I'm too cool for that!' -- you know, we don't do that, and Jim (Morrison) wouldn't do that, either. Jim would say, 'Yeah, great, man! Forty years ago, "Light My Fire" was the Number One song in America, and "(The) Summer Of Love," and here we are, 40 years later, and people are still playing "Light My Fire"' So, all you can say is, as they said in the '60s -- quote-unquote -- 'Groovy.'"
