Eric Clapton performs Cream onstage
Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood united onstage over the weekend to perform some Blind Faith and Cream songs at a benefit concert. The guitar legend walked on during Winwood's set at the Countryside Rocks concert in England on Saturday (May 19th), at which time they ran through Blind Faith's "Presence Of The Lord," "Can't Find My Way Home," and "Had To Cry Today." They also did the Spencer Davis Group classic "Gimme Some Lovin'" and two songs by blues legend Robert Johnson -- "Crossroads," which Clapton made famous in Cream, and "Little Queen Of Spades," which he covered in 2004 on his album Me And Mr Johnson. According to the fan-run website whereseric.com, this marked the first time Winwood and Clapton had performed together onstage in decades.Earlier this year, Clapton told Rolling Stone that he planned to do something with Winwood at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in July because they have "unfinished business." There's been talk for some time that Clapton wanted to reactivate Blind Faith, but it's been denied by representatives for both musicians.
