Foo Fighters preparing special edition release of second album

Foo Fighters will release a 10th anniversary edition of the band's second album, The Colour and the Shape, according to NME. The double-CD expanded version will emerge on June 26th and feature an assortment of B-sides and cover songs. The disc was originally issued in May of 1997 and included several of the band's biggest hits, such as "Everlong," "My Hero" and "Monkey Wrench." Drummer Taylor Hawkins and guitarist Franz Stahl both joined the band as the album neared completion, although Stahl's stay was short-lived.

Foo Fighters are currently more than halfway through recording the band's sixth studio album, with frontman Dave Grohl telling England's XFM Radio, "We're making a really big powerful record, which I'm very excited about."

A release date has not yet been finalized for the new effort.

Foo Fighters will perform with the Police on June 23rd at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and also play in London on July 7th as part of the worldwide Live Earth concerts.
