INXS put out open call for opening acts
INXS has put out an open call for acts to open for them on their upcoming U.K. dates. Through the INXS.com website, people can submit their contact information and a link to youtube or myspace pages with audio and video samples of their work. The members of INXS will judge the submissions and pick up to five entrants to open for them in the U.K. beginning June 5th. The contest is open through June 22nd -- for more information, go to INXS.com and click on "Open For INXS - U.K. Tour."
Anyone can enter, but the winners will be responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the shows.
Presumably, the shows won't be as bad or as dangerous as the ones INXS played in their early days. Guitarist-keyboardist Andrew Farriss told us about one particular night at the Cohman Cutter in Blacktown, Australia, where things went horribly wrong: [

One of our, our road-crew guys was walking across the car park, and this car comes up and deliberately hits him, you know? So I walked over to the window and I say, 'Hey, listen, that's just terrible,' so they all jump out and start beating the crap out of me. That was pretty scary, 'cause I got three of these big dudes all having a go at me, and I coulda died that night."
INXS kicks off their next round of North American dates in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on July 4th.
