1965 Bob Dylan replaces himself at Number One on the U.K. album chart when Bringing It All Back Home knocks The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan out of the top spot.
1967 Who drummer Keith Moon collapses during a recording session and is rushed to the hospital. Julian Covey fills in for Moon for two weeks' worth of gigs.
1971 "Brown Sugar" by the Rolling Stones hits Number One on the pop chart, where it stays for two weeks.
1976 "Still Crazy After All These Years" by Paul Simon peaks at Number 40 on the pop chart.
1980 Women And Children First by Van Halen is certified gold.
1982 The Clash releases Combat Rock.
1982 Tug Of War by Paul McCartney hits Number One on the album chart, where it stays for three weeks.
1999 The remains of Iron Butterfly bassist Phil "Taylor" Kramer are found in a wrecked minivan at the bottom of a ravine in Los Angeles. He disappeared February 12th, 1995, while driving to the airport to pick up a friend.
2000 In a guest column in Newsweek magazine, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich writes that he and his fellow bandmates don't care what people think of them for suing free music distributor Napster because "we think it's the right thing to do, period."
2001 Hole frontwoman Courtney Love enters the studio to record blues and jazz classics for the soundtrack to the upcoming 1920s-era film in which she stars, Hello Suckers. Neither the film nor the soundtrack materializes.
2002 David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar kick off their Heavyweight Champs Of Rock 'N Roll co-headlining tour in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
2004 Canada's Sum 41 is evacuated from the war-torn African nation of Congo, where they were filming a documentary for War Child Canada, when it is deemed unsafe for them to remain there.
2005 Saliva guitarist Chris D'abaldo announces online that he has quit the group. He briefly rejoins a few days later before quitting again for good.
