1977 Van Halen is offered a contract by Warner Bros. Records executives Mo Ostin and Ted Templeman at the Starwood in Los Angeles.
1979 Former Faces drummer Kenney Jones makes his first appearance with the Who, replacing the late Keith Moon. The gig, at the Rainbow Theatre in London, is a party for the U.K. premiere of the movie Quadrophenia.
1981 "I Can't Stand It" by Eric Clapton peaks at Number 10 on the pop chart, the same day that Another Ticket peaks at Number Seven on the album chart.
1981 "The Magnificent Seven" by the Clash peaks at Number 34 on the U.K. pop chart.

2003 E Street Band violinist Soozie Tyrell is joined onstage by Bruce Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scialfa, at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey, for two songs -- "St. Genevieve," from Tyrell's debut solo album White Lines, and a cover of "It's All Over Now."
2004 The Ted Nugent reality series Surviving Nugent: Ted Commandments premieres on VH1.
2005 Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry hosts a performance and listening party for his self-titled solo album at Harper's Ferry in Boston. Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler joins in on harmonica and backing vocals on Perry's song "Talk Talkin'."
2005 Cream kicks off their four-show reunion at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
2006 Pearl Jam releases their self-titled album.
