Ozzy: Black Sabbath punks of their time
Ozzy Osbourne was one of four legendary artists recognized at the second annual VH1 Rock Honors, which was taped on May 12th in Las Vegas and premiered on Thursday night (May 24th) on VH1. Despite this and many other accolades, including being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year with Black Sabbath, Ozzy told us he's not comfortable with all the attention: "I'm not very good at receiving good things said about me, you know. When I was with Black Sabbath in the '70s, we never used to like having good reviews and they never, ever gave us a good review. And we thought maybe it was because they're not giving us good reviews that the kids are going, 'Up yours, we think they're okay,' you know. I suppose you could say we were the punks of our time, you know. It's more respectable that way, I think."The show also honored ZZ Top, Genesis and Heart. Performers included Alice In Chains, Queens Of The Stone Age, Nickelback, Keane and Gretchen Wilson, while Billy Bob Thornton, Robin Williams and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins were among the presenters.
Osbourne released his ninth solo studio album, called Black Rain, this past Tuesday (May 22nd).
