Ozzy's "Black Rain" at No3 on the chart
Ozzy Osbourne's ninth solo studio album, Black Rain, has sold 152000 copies in America alone since arriving in stores last week. Osbourne debuted at Number Three on the Billboard album chart. The Black Sabbath vocalist's last effort, 2001's Down to Earth, entered the chart at Number Four with first-week sales of 153,000 copies. Black Rain was denied a Number One debut by the new offering from Maroon5, whose It Won't Be Soon Before Long sold over 400,000, and Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight, which dropped to Number Two.
In other news, this summer's "free" Ozzfest is offering special VIP ticket packages -- but these will definitely cost you. The "Party Like A Rockstar" package offers preferred venue seating, access to VIP areas, a behind-the-scenes tour and a special host for a mere $300. For an extra $666, the "I'm Part of the Show" package includes all that, plus a seat on the main stage during Ozzy's headlining set. Finally, the "Platinum Package" will be available by auction to 10 people per show, with bids starting at $1,000. This one gives you all the above perks, plus a personal meeting with Osbourne and his band, and a certificate signed by Sharon Osbourne.
Proceeds from these tickets will go to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
Ozzfest begins on July 12th in Seattle. The regular free tickets to the show are available through the web sites of the festival and its corporate sponsors.
According to Gigwise.com, Ozzy said in a recent interview that he wonders about his wife's intentions when she handles his business dealings as his manager. Ozzy explained, "When she talks to me about something, I have to work at whether she's talking to me as a loving wife or a f***ing scumbag manager...I have to let someone do it for me, and if someone's going to rip me off, I'd rather my wife do it than someone else."
