REO Speedwagon singer & sons to throw out first pitch

REO Speedwagon lead singer Kevin Cronin will get to realize a dream today (Tuesday, May 8th) -- throwing out the first pitch at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Cronin will do the honors before the hometown Cubs face off against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. As special an event as this will be for Cronin, he told us that he'll have some special company with him out on the pitcher's mound: "The Cubs organization invited me down to sing 'Take Me Out To The Ball Game' and to throw out the first pitch. Well, coincidentally, my twin boys are both seven years old, and they play on the Westlake Cubs, and they have the exact same uniform, same logo, everything. So my wife's gonna bring the boys down to the airport, I'm gonna bring 'em to Chicago, they're gonna suit up, and they're gonna walk out to the pitcher's mound at Wrigley Field and, and help me throw the first ball out. I just can't wait!"

Cronin also told us that when the offer first came in, it never occurred to him to have his sons join him: "We're lucky enough that we get all kinds of these great experiences, you know, and sometimes I forget that, 'Wait a minute -- my kids are old enough now, they're gonna remember this!' You know, it was a 'duh!' moment when someone finally said, 'Wait -- you're bringing your kids to this, aren't you?' And I was like, 'I hadn't thought of it, but YEAH!', you know? So the Cronin boys are gonna be throwing out the first pitch at Wrigley Field."

REO Speedwagon is on tour behind their new album, which is called Find Your Own Way Home. Their next show is tomorrow (Wednesday, May 9th) at the Rosemont Theatre in Rosemont, Illinois.
