Rock news at a glance
The new Korn album may go out untitled. The band's 1994 debut disc was already named Korn, so the group might simply release its eighth studio offering without any name at all. Guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer recently said that the band had still not picked a title for the disc even as artwork and manufacturing deadlines were fast approaching. (MTV.com & Harddrive Radio)
Mudvayne is tentatively planning to release its fourth album in October, according to a source who also heard eight new songs from the disc and described them as "beyond great." The new record will follow up 2005's Lost and Found. Singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett are currently on tour with their other band, Hellyeah. (Harddrive Radio)
Was actress Kate Hudson having an affair with Jet frontman Nic Cester while shooting a movie in Australia recently? Not true, says bassist Mark Wilson, who called the rumor "absolute rubbish." Wilson explained, "Nic's friends with her ex, (Black Crowes singer) Chris Robinson, as well. He's been friends with her for years. He went out for dinner with her in Brisbane. He was devastated when it made all the papers." Wilson added that Cester's longtime girlfriend was "devastated" when the alleged romance made the Australian news. (Herald Sun)
Perhaps taking a cue from former Evanescence drummer Rocky Gray, ex-Angels & Airwaves bassist Ryan Sinn has begun auctioning off items related to his time in the band on eBay. Sinn was dismissed from the Tom DeLonge-led group last month. (Punkbands.com)
Collective Soul has set August 14th as the release date for the band's new album, titled Afterwards. The group is streaming the record's first single, called "Hollywood," at its MySpace page. (Tunelab Music)
