Rolling Stones concert in Serbia moved to protect horses

A Rolling Stones concert scheduled for Serbia this July has been relocated, in an effort to keep some horses on their feed.

The band was originally supposed to play at The Hippodrome in Belgrade on July 14th, but there's a stable with about 300 horses that's just a few feet away from where the stage would have been constructed. After a handler at the stable suggested some of the horses might be tranquilized if they reacted badly to the noise and crowds, animal rights activists spoke out against the show being held there.

Now, the local promoter has announced that the Stones will perform in a public park in the city to avoid any issue with the animals, according to the Associated Press. The band hasn't made any comment about the situation.

The Stones kick off their summer European dates on June 5th. Van Morrison will be on hand to open the first two shows, in Werchter, Belgium, and Nijmegen in The Netherlands, just as he did back in November in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Oakland, California.
