Smashing Pumpkins tribute album on the works
30 Seconds To Mars, Panic! At The Disco, Plus 44 and the Bravery are among the artists reportedly slated to contribute to a new Smashing Pumpkins tribute album, according to Punknews.org. The project will be issued by MySpace Records, the label started by the popular social networking site about two years ago. According to MTV.com, all of the bands involved will post their Pumpkins covers on their respective MySpace pages, with all the songs being collected onto a CD that will then be included with the July issue of Spin magazine.
Also contributing to the tribute are Deftones, The Academy Is..., Hawthorne Heights, the New Amsterdams and others. My Chemical Romance was initially linked to the project, but is apparently not involved.
The Pumpkins themselves are poised for a comeback with their first album since 2000, titled Zeitgeist, which is due out on July 7th.
The band will play its first North American show on that same date, as part of the Live Earth concert taking place at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Pumpkins will give their first live performance in nearly seven years on May 22nd at the Grand Rex in Paris, France.
