Velvet Revolver and Alice In Chains to tour together?

A tour teaming Velvet Revolver and Alice In Chains is possibly in the works for late summer and fall. According to Newsday.com, the summer schedule for the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island, New York has both bands listed as performing there on August 18th. No other details or dates are available, but a source close to one of the bands unofficially told us that the trek was happening.

Velvet Revolver will begin a short U.S. tour in Los Angeles on Thursday (May 3rd). The band releases its sophomore effort, titled Libertad, on July 3rd.

A single called "She Builds Quick Machines" will arrive at radio stations later this month.

Alice In Chains is reportedly writing songs for its first new studio album in 12 years. There is no word on whether William DuVall, who sang with the group on last year's reunion tour, is also handing vocals, and there's also no official info on a release date.
