The Zombies to perform Odessey & Oracle album onstage
Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent are expanding their Zombies reunion for two special nights next year. Argent and Blunstone will re-team with surviving members Chris White and Hugh Grundy on March 7th and 8th, 2008, for the first-ever performances of their classic album Odessey & Oracle in its entirety.
Odessey & Oracle was the band's second album, and was recorded in 1967 but only released in 1968 after the band had broken up. A year later, in 1969, the track "Time Of The Season" from the album became a surprise hit single in the U.S., reaching Number Three on the charts. The album has gone on to become a rock classic, and appears on many critics' lists of greatest albums ever.
The shows at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London will also feature hits from Argent's and Blunstone's post-Zombies careers, with the duo's current touring band as well as with a string quartet. There's no word yet on whether Argent, Blunstone, White, and Grundy will play any other dates.
The shows will feature Keith Airey from Blunstone and Argent's road band, and he'll be taking the place of the late guitarist Paul Atkinson, who died in 2004.
The Argent and Blunstone Zombies will do a handful of shows this summer on the HippieFest package tour in July and August.
