Axl Rose makes headlines in Australia

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose had a drink thrown at him during a concert in Brisbane, Australia last week by a fan who was angry because the band took the stage so late. According to the Sydney Daily Telegraph, a can of some kind was hurled at the singer during the group's opening number, "Welcome to the Jungle." The object did not hit Rose but he was still splattered with some of its contents, prompting him to reportedly say, "Is that what you want? You want a battle. If you're going to act like that, then you know I don't have to be here."

Axl also reportedly walked off the stage at frequent intervals throughout the show, forcing the band to improvise extended solos and jams.

Fans paid $150 for tickets to the Brisbane show and were reportedly not pleased with the usual long wait before G N' R took the stage.

In other news, former Guns guitarist Slash told Australia's Herald Sun that he's looking forward to hearing the new Guns album, Chinese Democracy, if it ever sees the light of day. Slash said, "I'm just glad that he (Axl) is out there doing his thing again. We didn't know what was happening with him for a long time, but I'm looking forward to hearing this album."

Slash's current outfit, Velvet Revolver, issues its new Libertad CD on July 3rd.
