MTV Unplugged returns with Bon Jovi, Police
MTV Unplugged is returning after a long absence, and Bon Jovi and the Police will tape new episodes this summer. Additional episodes by country star Kenny Chesney and hip-hop's Mary J. Blige are also on the schedule. Billboard reported that Bon Jovi's episode will kick off the new episodes on June 22nd, with the Police expected to tape their episode in Miami in mid-July.
The Police are reportedly considering an acoustic album of reworked older songs, although there has been no word whether that would consist of a live Unplugged album or a studio set.
Unlike previous Unplugged episodes that aired solely on MTV, the new shows will also air on alternate channels and websites, including VH1, CMT and MTV.com.
Bon Jovi's next U.S. date will be on July 5th in Milwaukee at Summerfest. They'll release their "country-tinged" new album, called Lost Highway on June 19th.
On June 5th the Police will release a self-titled double CD of their greatest hits. They performed on Saturday, June 2nd, in Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium.
