The Police drummer trashes band's performance in Vancouver
The day after the Police's third reunion show in Vancouver, drummer Stewart Copeland criticized the band's performance, calling the concert "unbelievably lame." Copeland was openly critical of all three members' performances during the group's May 30th concert on his website, stewartcopeland.net.He posted that the band was out of sync due to a series of flubs during the band's opening number "Message In A Bottle." Copeland wrote that couldn't hear guitarist Andy Summers' opening intro, "so we are half a bar out-of-sync with each other. Andy is in Idaho... We are the mighty Police and we are totally at sea."
He went on to say that the evening's performance of "Synchronicity II" wasn't much better, adding that again to the band's flubs: "the mighty Sting momentarily looks like a petulant pansy instead of the God of rock... And so it goes, for song after song... It usually takes about four or five shows in a tour before you get to the disaster gig. But we're the Police so we are a little ahead of schedule."
Copeland lightheartedly joked: "Screw it, it's only music. What are you gonna do? But maybe it's time to get out of Vancouver."
The Police play Wednesday and Thursday (June 6th and 7th) in Seattle at Key Arena at Seattle Center.
