Arenas on hold for Van Halen tour
Arenas in several major markets have been placed on hold for a possible Van Halen fall tour, according to Billboard. The site confirmed reports that first began circulating this week about the group relaunching what was initially intended to be a summer trek. The tour would be the first in 22 years to feature original singer David Lee Roth behind the mic, as well as guitarist Eddie Van Halen's teenage son Wolfgang on bass. MelodicRock.com reported on Monday (July 2nd) that "parties involved in all aspects of the Van Halen machine are mobilizing to get this tour set up" and that "dates and venues are being penciled in," with a September kick-off likely. The first attempt at the tour fell through this past spring, as Eddie Van Halen entered rehab after failing to show up for the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Van Halen last toured in 2004 with Sammy Hagar on vocals, grossing $40 million despite erratic behavior on the part of Eddie.
