Boston's Tom Scholz receives animal rights award
Boston bandleader Tom Scholz has been selected by the Farm Animal Reform Movement (FARM) for their Celebrity Animal Advocate of the Year award, for his long-term support of animal rights.
Scholz took the opportunity to pay tribute to his friend Brad Delp, the lead singer of Boston, who committed suicide earlier his year. He and Delp had both been vegetarians, and both supported animal rights causes through Scholz's charitable fund, the DTS Charitable Foundation.
Past recipients of the award include celebrities Alicia Silverstone, James Cromwell, Linda Blair, and Bill Maher.
Scholz will play at a tribute concert in Delp's memory called "Come Together," to be held on August 19th in Boston. He will perform Boston classics with guest singers Sammy Hagar, Mickey Thomas and Michael Sweet, and will also reform with the original members of Boston for "Don't Look Back."
