The Doors release Live in Boston '70
Out on July 24th is The Doors Live In Boston '70, a three-CD set of the band's early and late shows from their April 10th, 1970 Boston Arena concerts. The set is for the most part unreleased, with only two tracks from the collection having been previously issued. The legendary shows, which feature an extremely inebriated Jim Morrison, include a cross section of Doors classics such as "Roadhouse Blues," "Ship Of Fools," "Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar)," "Back Door Man," "Five To One," "When The Music's Over," "Break On Through," and "Light My Fire."
The shows also feature the band's covers of "Mystery Train," "Fever," "Summertime," and "Crossroads."
On September 25th, the band will release The Very Best Of The Doors, a 34-track two-disc set chronicling the band's entire career.
That same day, The Doors Vinyl Box will be released. The set features the original stereo mixes of the Doors' six studio albums pressed on 180-gram virgin vinyl, along with a second copy of the band's self-titled debut on mono.
Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger says that for all the drama constantly surrounding the band, there were never any ego problems within the band itself: "Jim was, like, the focal point of the band, and that was fine with us, you know? And I think the very fact that it was fine with us is why we all got along, you know, so well, in the Doors. It was really like the perfect group, you know, as far as working together and stuff -- there was no ego problems, you know, and petty jealousies, and stuff like that, that a lot of groups go through."
