Led Zeppelin to release 2-CD set

Led Zeppelin will release a two-disc 24-track best of collection, called Mothership, on November 13th.

Billboard reported that the track selection was hand-picked by the band's surviving members, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones. The set will be issued in "deluxe" and "collector's" editions, which include a DVD featuring previously released footage that was included on the 2003 Led Zeppelin DVD. A four-LP vinyl version of Mothership will also be released.

The tracklisting for Led Zeppelin's Mothership is
Disc One: "Good Times Bad Times," "Communication Breakdown," "Dazed And Confused," "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You," "Whole Lotta Love," "Ramble On," "Heartbreaker," "Immigrant Song," "Since I've Been Loving You," "Rock And Roll," "Black Dog," "When The Levee Breaks," and "Stairway To Heaven."
Disc Two: "The Song Remains The Same," "Over The Hills And Far Away," "D'Yer Maker," "No Quarter," "Trampled Under Foot," "Houses Of The Holy," "Kashmir," "Nobody's Fault But Mine," "Achilles Last Stand," "In The Evening," and "All My Love."

On November 20th the band will reissue an expanded version of their 1976 live album The Song Remains The Same. That same day, a remastered DVD of the concert film of the same name, filmed in July 1973 at New York's Madison Square Garden, will also be released. The CD version will feature six songs that were left off the original soundtrack: "Black Dog," "Over The Hills And Far Away," "Misty Mountain Hop," "Since I've Been Loving You," "The Ocean," and "Heartbreaker."

The DVD will feature all 14 songs from the band's concert, including "Over the Hills And Far Away," "Celebration Day," "The Ocean" and "Misty Mountain Hop."

Bonus features on the DVD, which will be available in both in both HD DVD and Blu-ray formats, include a 1976 interview with Robert Plant and Zeppelin manager Peter Grant.

A limited collector's edition will include the soundtrack CD, a T-shirt with the original album art, and reproductions of classic 1970's Led Zeppelin memorabilia.

John Paul Jones said that band politics never came into play when the band was working up new material: "We always made music in the same way -- we all know whether something works or not. When we wrote music together, you know, if somebody came up with an idea, if it didn't work, you didn't have to be taken to a room quietly to say, 'You know, we can't use this,' you know? Everybody knows, 'Hey, this is rubbish! You know, let's do something else!' And we'd go on to something that does work, and then everybody knows it works."
