Modern rock quickies

Muse has contributed a cover of "Man of Mystery" by the '60s instrumental group the Shadows to a 13-track compilation CD given away free with the latest issue of British music mag NME. The CD was compiled by the members of the trio and also features some of their favorite tunes. While the disc might be tough to get hold of in North America, the band has reportedly been playing the track live as well. (Stereogum)

Morrissey has been forced to postpone his North American tour again, just one day after resuming it. After playing in Vienna, Virginia on Monday (July 2nd), the singer was seen by an ear, nose and throat specialist who confirmed that he was still suffering from the infection that scrapped several shows last week. Morrissey was ordered to not use his voice before July 7th at the earliest, meaning that a Baltimore show on the 3rd, Thursday's (July 5th) gig in Atlantic City and Friday's (July 6th) concert in Holmdel, New Jersey have all been postponed. Ticketholders should keep their tickets as there is a chance the shows will be rescheduled.

The video for My Chemical Romance's new single, "Teenagers," has been showing regularly on MTV in a bleeped version, but what's odd is the choice of words that have been censored. In addition to one or two standard dirty words, MTV also blocked "murder," "shirt" and "pay," but left "bleed" and "violent" intact. (Idolator)

OK Go leads the list of artists contributing tracks to Dig For Fire: A Tribute to Pixies, due out in November. The rest of the CD's eclectic lineup includes Mogwai, They Might Be Giants, British Sea Power and the Rosebuds. (Alternative Press)
